Description
In today’s digital age, where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly prevalent, it’s crucial for young minds to understand the fundamentals of this incredible technology.
AI focuses on creating intelligent systems that mimic human behaviour, while Machine Learning is a subset of AI that enables machines to improve their performance through learning from data.
This course takes an innovative approach to introducing youngsters to the world of AI and Machine Learning. It aims to demystify complex concepts by making them easy to understand and fun by offering interactive tools, games, and hands-on projects.
By participating in various projects like image recognition and chatbot development students can see firsthand how Machine Learning systems work.
Students will learn about the following main stages of a Machine Learning project:
1 – Collecting training examples
2 – Use the examples to train a Machine Learning Model
3 – Create a project with the Machine Learning Model that responds to what it recognises
4 – Learn from feedback and improve the model
By building systems for themselves students will get an insight into how Machine Learning systems are created and controlled – skills that are increasingly valuable in today’s tech-driven society.
One of the great things about this course is its real-world focus. It encourages youngsters to think about the practical applications of AI and Machine Learning beyond just coding exercises. They’re encouraged to consider the use of the technology in areas like healthcare or environmental conservation, fostering a sense of responsibility and ethical thinking from an early age.
By the end of the course students will:
- Gain a fundamental understanding of the principles behind AI and Machine Learning
- Develop their own projects by training their Machine Learning Model
- Gain an awareness of the ethical and social issues surrounding AI and Machine Learning
Here are a few examples of projects that students will implement:
- Chatbot that will recognise commands or answer questions on a chosen topic
- Create a program that will predict if a URL is legitimate
- Make a rock paper scissors game that learns to recognise hand shapes.
- Create an app that will recommend tourist attractions based on people’s interests
- Teach a computer to recognise compliments and insults and have a character that smiles when you say nice things to it and frown when you you say mean things
- Train a computer to recognise headlines from national newspapers and test its ability to recognise the use of language
This course is taught with Python, which is one of the most popular programming languages today and is especially popular because of its support for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
