Part 1: What is redstone?

Redstone is a very wide term covering everything power-related in Minecraft. It has many uses, some of which are very easy to understand and others which require immense electrical engineering knowledge. In most cases it functions just like real-world electricity – wires connecting components to create ever-more-complex structures. Redstone is scalable up to the point of creating a functional computer, and theoretically you could, with infinite resources and a lot of spare time, create Minecraft inside Minecraft.

This tutorial will be covering redstone from the very basics to advanced mechanics, including slime block interaction and command block creations.
