From June 2^nd to June 6^th Apple held its Worldwide Developer’s conference in San Francisco this year and while they didn’t reveal any new hardware at all, they surely revealed a lot for the digital world in terms of iOS updates, new features and a brand new language for Apple developers!

New Releases

Yosemite is the new OS of Apple and has some great features and new style to it. Some of the features included in Yosemite will be a new interface, better iOS integration, Private browsing, New Mail Features to name a few.

For the mobile world however we also learned that iOS 8 will be available this autumn for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch devices. Some of the more hyped features to be included is “Health” which is rumored to hold important health metrics and health tips and will ‘revolutionize the health world’. While Samsung already had a health icon worked in, Apple always brings a fresh new perspective to app development so we’re eager to find out what will happen.

In addition to this major announcement we might see the end of those horrible ‘Auto correct fails’ with the new chat features including predictive text and will learn words based on ‘who you talk too’ and frequent conversations you have. This should make texting much simpler since it will be predicting the next words and eventually should be able to predict most of them correctly.

Potentially the new iOS will also have a Split Screen function where a user would be able to run multiple apps simultaneously. This is said to increase efficiency and multi-tasking.

A Smart Home

Everything went ‘smart’ lately, except our houses. Yes some technology was available but was it truly ‘smart’? Apple is ready to take the jump into Smart Houses and will be including it into the Developers kits. Essentially this would be the ability to control things like Lights, Security cameras, Baby Monitors and so on from a mobile device.

If Apple continues with its trends of innovation, as it has done for ever, we can expect that the SMART HOME revolution is about to begin. Soon we’ll be flooded with smart objects in our houses, but that will ultimately be up to the developers.

New Language for Developers

Finally we would like to dive into this new development; Swift. Apple has been using Objective C as its programming language for the past few decades and now reveals their new language. According to them it’s “Objective-C without the C”. The language is said to be smooth and highly responsive and can develop anything from Social Networking apps to 3d Games. Coders will find this development to be the most significant as the Next generation of apps are on the rise with Swift as its main language.
